Responding deputies found a man pointing a gun toward a driver in another vehicle and after officers say they gave commands for him to drop his weapon, the gunman turned his attention toward one of the deputies.

It happened a little before 9 p.m. on Sellers Rd. near the Hardy Toll Rd. That’s where Asst. Chief Tommy Diaz with theKnife-wielding suspect dead after deputy-involved shooting in north Harris County

One caller said they heard about 10-15 shots fired, and another caller said there were two people seen firing weapons. While officers were en route, they were flagged down by witnesses and found just one shooter pointing his gun at the driver’s side of another vehicle. Commands were given to drop the gun, and the shooter turned his attention toward one of the deputies, that’s when 2 officers shot him. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the gunman died from his injuries.

time. The deputy discharged his weapon, striking a male. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators are en route.Immediately, Asst. Chief Diaz said deputies examined the gunman and rendered aid. Homicide investigators were called to the scene as was the internal investigations team to ensure proper protocol was taken.

The two officers have been placed on administrative leave, also per protocol. The shooter has only been identified as a Hispanic man.
