Why New Jersey and Oregon still don't let you pump your own gasEvery state has lifted its ban on self-service gas. Except for New Jersey and Oregon. They don't trust that their citizens have that highly skilled capability, maybe... Well, the gas station jobs will be lost inevitably and residents won’t want to pay more to have people plug in their car for them. Then what? you actually can pump your own gas in NJ after hours. I did it recently one Sunday night after 10PM off of Rte 80. Thank goodness they now keep the pumps open bc I would have otherwise been stranded.
