Cumberland Valley High School School officials with the Cumberland Valley School District confirm a gun was found in a middle school student's backpack today.
Authorities with the Silver Spring Township Police Department said a 15-year-old had a loaded semi-automatic handgun, and they were taken into custody. The superintendent writes “the weapon was never displayed and threats were never made," and goes on to say: I can assure you that the district plans to pursue the most aggressive action as allowable by school code and law, and the student will not be returning to the building in the foreseeable future.
This comes after our report last night surrounding an alleged threat at another middle school in the Cumberland Valley School District. In that incident, Mountain View Middle School parents reached out to CBS 21 News after two emails went out to parents last week regarding a threat being made. This also comes amid the trial of a woman in Michigan, who was found guilty on Tuesday of manslaughter after her son was part of a deadly school shooting in Michigan.
