Longtime guitarist John Frusciante is back with the band. And Josh Klinghoffer, who joined the Chili Peppers full-time 10 years ago when Frusciante quit the band to focus on his solo career, is out., appeared on the two most recent albums, 2011’s"I’m With You" and 2016’s"The Getaway."
“The Red Hot Chili Peppers announce that we are parting ways with our guitarist of the past ten years, Josh Klinghoffer,” the band said in a statement posted to. “Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love. We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gifts he shared with us.”
The group also revealed “with great excitement and full hearts” that Frusciante would rejoin the band as lead guitarist. So far, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have booked two 2020 U.S. shows: May 15 at Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and May 22-24 at Boston Calling Music.
