NightmareAlley is a gutting noir drama—and Guillermo del Toro isn't ashamed to admit that it took him 30 years to get it right.

Bradley Cooperand, of course, Perlman. “We all certainly did put those 30 years to good use,” says del Toro, laughing, when I mention that Perlman had aged out of playing Stan. “But the beauty of this is, I think, the movie I would've done back then, would've been more on themode. And the movie that I think I did in my 50s is, in my mind, a movie about today, not a cinephile artifact. It’s a movie about things like the truth, lies, reality, and how we love to destroy each other.

Del Toro asked Cooper to take up boxing, training at least twice a week, to get the physicality needed for a man struggling through the Depression era. But what was most important for del Toro was that Cooper could nail the ending. It’s an emotionally gutting scene, capturing this man’s journey in just a few moments.

This Movie was Freaking awesome

My 1 film of the year!!!

The story sounds interesting, but a bit hollow. I am not big fan of the kind of film that give you a definite ending. It would be much more interesting if it doesn't draw a conclusion but simply present two sides of the narratives. That's is the real sign of a great story.
