I had surgery a year ago and paid the $26000+ bill and they sued me just now for a $5.79 balance; some things just don't make sense.
Medical treatment is overpriced. Isn't it enough that people without insurance is treated like garbage? Over two thousand dollars for just an ten minute doctor visit is Ludacris.
This is happening in blue states, like California. Florida protects it's citizens from hospitals taking their home.
Had to serve many, many papers 4 this reason when I was a dispatcher! I don’t know why people don’t even try 2 talk 2 the hospitals about making payment arrangements! My son did when his son had to visit ER w bad face cut! They had no problem doing that & they were out of state.
Patient: How much is a tonsillectomy ? Hospital: you will know when you get the bill. American Healthcare: When people are sick we take advantage of them. We charge whatever we feel like with no explanation, if you don’t like it, DIE.

I guess we need Federal funded hospitals. Many towns and small cities can't take the losses at their hospitals. Private or otherwise.
Seems like stated above that every other first world country can provide medical coverage for their citizens. It’s a rich mans racket. Hospitals and doctors shoukd be sued for not ipholding their hypocratic oath.

We as citizens should be willing to work 2 or 3 jobs, to pay outrageous premiums, for insurance that will eventually deny our claims. If not they will gladly put you in jail for something that will inevitably happen to all of us. MedicareForAll

How is 'struggling with medical debt' defined here? Does it have to bankrupt you? Or does it just have to hamper your lifestyle? Or something in between? I'd say 5 in 7 families struggle in some way with debt, so maybe less than a quarter of that is medical?

If my area is typical of the rest of the country, corporations and mega hospitals are gobbling up medical offices, labs, imaging and treating medicine the same as if customers were buying a car. We need a different business model and tax model for medicine to discourage this.
