I'm convinced that nuclear power, with the appropriate safety measures, will help us relinquish our stubborn reliance on fossil fuels. It might be the only choice we have. What do they plan on doing with renewables? Burning them for fuel?
In theory, nuclear energy would be part of the solution. But our nuclear plans are so old that people worry about their viability. Building new nuclear plants means more ad hoc designs and huge cost overruns & delays.
