Larry Hogan will posthumously pardon 34 victims of racial lynching in the state who were denied legal due process in the allegations against them between 1854 and 1933, a spokesman for Hogan said Saturday.

Hogan and other state officials are scheduled to attend a ceremony in Towson, Maryland, next to the former jailhouse where Cooper was held. A historic marker will be unveiled at the site in a partnership with the Baltimore County Coalition of the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project, the Equal Justice Initiative and Baltimore County.

The ceremony is part of a continuing effort by the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project, a group of 13 county chapters that is working to document the history of lynching in the state.

Exonerate some of them. A pardon implies guilt; some of these folks didn't even get to go to trial. None would have received judgment from their peers.

I honestly believe Hogan is the next Republican Presidential hopeful.

The only thing on Trump and the Republican Senators minds is power. If they get total power there’s no stopping them and they could rip off the taxpayers, the stock market and change the laws to meet their demands! Just watch, it already started!

lauferlaw What a joke. Why would VICTIMS need a pardon? How about posthumously trying all the people who denied them legal due process and murdered them instead? Hogan thinks he's running for Prez in 2024...he's just trying to grab some headlines.

I'm sure that the 34 victims would be happy to know that Hogan has pardoned them. Where can they now go to apply for lost wages?

That's white of him.

lauferlaw I’m also confused as to how victims need a pardon. The murderers need posthumous sentencing is what’s up.

He's a hiney riny 'cause he's always brown-nosing

Pardoning a victim - %$& - something only a Republican would do. Why dosnt he posthumously indict the police forces of the cities where the lynchings took place?

Pardoning victims....

That's so white of him.

karolcummins And he'll be called a rino by the GQP for doing so.

Timely. Glad to see an R with empathy and a conscience.
