Gov. Greg Abbott, Beto O’Rourke agree to a televised debate, and they’re already sparring

The 2022 governor’s race pitting Republican Gov. Greg Abbott against Democrat Beto O’Rourke is set to become the most expensive campaign in state history, surpassing the $125 million that O’Rouke and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz spent on their 2018 battle for the U.S. Senate.announced Tuesday they have agreed to a televised debate at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, marking the first onstage faceoff between the two gubernatorial nominees.
