Fragrance is arguably the thing that completes any look, whether you're getting ready for a dinner date and you want to feel confident or you're getting ready for bed and you want to relax, which is why which fragrance you choose to wear is just as important as your outfit. This month, Dior Beauty relaunched one of its iconic fragrances Miss Dior, originally launched in 1947 and relaunched in 2017. This time around the scent is full of Centifolia rose with notes of honey and pepper.
Fragrance has this wonderful power to bring up memories, and blast us back to the past. I remember my mother wore an Issey Miyake perfume growing up, and whenever she would leave in the early mornings to go to work, I would run into her room and take her pillow because it always smelled like her. As an adult, sometimes I’ll stop at the perfume section at the department store and smell that fragrance.
Miss Dior reminds me of a poem called “Things that don’t suck” and one of the lines from it particularly is “Butterflies that remember being caterpillars.”I’m a massive procrastinator when it comes to getting ready, most of the time I’ll plan to give myself about an hour, and maybe even do a whole makeup routine while drinking tea.
For eyes, I scribbled the 24 Hour Stylo in Matte Blue into the lashline and then smudged it out for a soft definition that would double as an eyeshadow base. I then blended soft layers of shadows from the 5 Couleurs Couture Palette in Nude Dress across the lid and outer corners. I added a bit more definition to the lash line using Mono Eyeshadow in Lucky Clover to enhance the blueliner I’d previously used, and then finished the eyes with two coats of Diorshow Mascara.
To complement the soft smokiness of the eyes, I finished the whole look with a light natural lip color, Sensual Matte Rouge Dior Lipstick. Emily and I like a softer lip line on her, so we skipped lip liner to keep the look a bit more here, and just applied the lipstick directly from the tube."
