Leading Republicans have declined to say whether they think requirements in schools, the military and private employers should also be rethought or banned

Republicans' sweeping denunciations of President Joe Biden's plan to force more people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus are raising concerns among public health experts that this heated criticism could help fuel a broader rejection of other vaccine requirements, including those put in place by schools and the military, as the issue of inoculations becomes increasingly political.

The sharp rhetoric and failure to clarify their broader views on vaccines are worrying some public health experts. Peter Hotez, a professor of pediatrics and molecular virology and microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine and a leading expert on the virus, is already worried about the decline of other vaccinations in the United States, particularly among children.

McCarthy's office declined to provide specifics about whether the top House Republican opposes requirements in schools, the military and private businesses that individuals be vaccinated against deadly diseases such as the measles, meningitis and typhoid. McCarthy remained silent when asked twice Monday in the Capitol to answer questions about his views on vaccines beyond the coronavirus.

Several Republican governors - including McMaster, Ron DeSantis in Florida and Tate Reeves in Mississippi - oppose the Biden plan, even though they lead states that require students to get vaccinated against a host of other diseases. "It's not something that public health embraces as a viable option," Brewer said. "It's a very, very grim way of seeing the world. The hospitals are full of young kids and babies, and that trend will only accelerate. We're not a nation that takes comfort in watching kids get sick and die."

Among the most vocal critics of Biden's vaccine mandate are House Republicans, who have argued that the step infringes on Americans' individual rights and represents the pinnacle of government overreach.

Ted Cruz and former Vice President Mike Pence — have condemned President Biden’s handling of the end of the war in Afghanistan. Blinken braces for GOP buzz saw in Afghanistan congressional hearingsSecretary of State Antony Blinken can expect the most aggressive questioning of his career when he testifies Monday before the House Foreign Affairs Committee and on Tuesday before Senate Foreign Relations. Why it matters: Republicans see the hearings as their first chance to directly confront a top-ranking Biden official about the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Democrats see it as a moment in which they must reject GOP efforts to blame President Biden for 20 years of bipartisan mistak I hope the Democrats quiz him on how a Trumps deal with the Taliban (cheered by GOP) and withdrawal of almost all troops pre inauguration and lack of transition support affected Biden’s ability to maneuver and lead to Afghan government collapse. Yes! It’s going to be rough! Thank God for President Biden and Mr. Blinken for finally ending this war. Unfortunately now we will have to listen to those that say they could’ve done it better BUT DIDN’T!! The gravy$train is over for now.

Newsom slams GOP, while Elder targets governor's wife as recall campaign closesGov. Gavin Newsom and Republican front-runner Larry Elder fanned out across L.A. on Sunday to make their final push to voters in California's recall election. Is Elder TRYING to make his image worse? Or is he just playing book tour? He sure as hell is not qualified to govern California. Newsom’s wife was shilling to protect Harvey Weinstein from rape charges because he was a big donor. But she’s not governor. Judge Gavin’s own elitist rich kid do nothing horribleness on its own. Not much here that reflects poorly on either Newsom or his wife. Rose McGowan needs more time with a therapist to deal with her abuse - supporting Elder is nuts.
