In a companywide meeting Thursday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said employees who needed to work in the office would be allowed to return in June or July with enhanced safety measures in place. The rest would likely continue working from home, a Google spokesperson told NPR. Google had originally told employees work-from-home protocols would be in place at least through June 1.

Not all tech companies are like that. I saw on the news that Broadcom sent their workers back to the offices. Then a building has to be closed down because someone has symptoms.

Tech companies have had employees work remotely for a while. When I worked at a tech firm years ago about 30% worked from home. IBM's headquarters has looked like an abandoned building for at least four years do to remote working. This is the least surprising thing Ive read today

Google don't care; they'll still keep an eye on you.

This work environment (where possible) will likely last until there is a vaccine which has been widely distributed to the populous.
