Google paid former search executive Amit Singhal $35 million in an exit package when he was reportedly forced to resign after a sexual assault investigation, according to court documents.

Google acknowledged the unredacted claims in the lawsuit Monday and said in a statement that there are "serious consequences for anyone who behaves inappropriately at Google."

The lawsuit targets the board of Google parent Alphabet, charging that its members had a duty to protect the company and its shareholders from risk and reputation damage. Instead, it says, the board agreed to pay off and otherwise support male executives facing misconduct charges — opening the company to reputational and financial damage by doing so.

Singhal has also denied the claims against him, saying in a statement to the AP in 2017 that he had not been accused of harassment before and that he left Google on his own terms. Singhal did not immediately return a request for comment Monday. Google acknowledged the unredacted claims in the lawsuit Monday and said in a statement that there are"serious consequences for anyone who behaves inappropriately at Google."

Google promised to be more forceful in handling such cases and ended mandatory arbitration in cases of sexual misconduct.

Disgraceful. If it was any “average joe” he/she would be prosecuted. Shameful Google, shameful

35 and 6 zeros? For being forced to resign due to a sexual assault investigation? Maybe Google has just too much money. DuckDuckGo

If one is fired for cause, why reward with a platinum parachute?

Can he be indicted for receiving money for sex? Just asking. 🤔😏🤭

Bobs and vagene + 35 million. Sweet deal

Don’t expect to see that bit of news featured on a Google doodle.

So, sexual assault/harassment pays? That’s what I’m getting out of this. And he’s not the only Google exec to get paid off.

When will we stop rewarding bad behavior. $35 mil for sexual assault, first class ed after Mom & Dad bribed your way into UCLA. rewardgoodbehavior

35 million dollars and not charges filed. That will show him.

Bad hombre

Sounds like it’s a touchy subject. I googled that.

Looks like sexual assault pays. We have no ethical values.

Shouldn’t have got a dime fire him and send him home 👍

Well that will certainly teach him not to sexually assault.

He groped someone and got paid $35 million? Bryce Harper should've hired that guy's agent/lawyer.

Male feminists are always the worst offenders

Call me crazy but don’t payout usually go in the opposite manner?

WTF

Don’t be evil Google
