He came out on top at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and then earned the first-place purse at the Players Championship the following week.
Players participated in practice rounds at August National on Monday and Tuesday. On Thursday, honorary starters Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson tee off on Augusta's first hole, Tea Olive, to mark the beginning of the PGA Tour's first major tournament of the year.
