Go move your car: Denver’s street-sweeping season returns April 1

Spring cleaning is here. And that includes cleaning Denver’s streets as sweeping begins on Friday.

Street sweeping season begins on April 1 and lasts through November, meaning each month on designated days, parking on specific sections of streets will risk a ticket. It’s all in an effort to move vehicles for the sweepers to do their job. Denver’s website says that street sweeping helps keep dirt and debris from entering the air and storm sewers. Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure handles the sweeps, requesting cyclists and motorists pass the trucks carefully and leave plenty of room.

According to Denver’s website, street sweeping crews swept 133,039 lane miles, collecting 52,393 cubic yards of dirt and debris in 2021.
