General Motors says the six-week auto workers strike will end up costing the company about $2.9 billion

Nearly 50,000 hourly GM workers went on strike starting September 16, two weeks before the end of the quarter. It ended on Saturday, October 26. Although GM was unable to build any cars at American factories during the strike, it had built up an inventory of vehicles ahead of the walkout to give its dealers the supply of cars and trucks they needed to keep selling during the strike.

International sales, which ironically had little impact from the strike, took a hit. The market for new car sales in China, GM's largest market, has slowed considerably in the last year, cutting GM's sales there by 16%.The results were not as bad as investors had expected, and shares of GM rose 1.5% in premarket trading following the report.GM insisted the four-year deal reached with the United Auto Workers union is a good one.GM's strike is over.

'TAXPAYERS BAILOUT MONEY'

Open letter to Risto Siilasmaa 'Dear sir, if such methods and such a culture will continue in the company Nokia, then very soon people will begin to call you “Don Risto, Godfather of Nokia”. Are such unworthy actions acceptable for a company like Nokia?'-

Versus how much it costs to meet worker demands?

MichelleLiTV Congratulations on figuring out how strikes work.

They will pass the bill onto the consumers and customers.

They'll make it up in increase prices of the product and blame it on tariffs.

Wait. Didn’t dumb gop voters and politicians vote for that super duper tax cut that would trickle down to the workers. Sorry auto workers. Zero sympathy. Democrats bailed u out from ur last bad decision which caused the collapse in 2008. We are not doing it again. Read !

It cost the workers a lot too. They got little in return from their deal. Not much different than the original generous offer. The union got owned.

smart. less money the company makes the more the empl... hmmm

Now tell us how much a settlement would have cost? couple of mil tops? so how can these people justify this? it's absolutely disgusting!

Well if they’d done right by their workers in the first place maybe this wouldn’t have happened 🤷‍♀️

Ha. Good. Idiots in charge can try and justify their seven figure bonuses with that.

Can they get it back like the farmers? I mean, we are killing the tariff game right? Rolling in money?

Fire them all and rehire non union workers

You could have paid them

I wonder if unions realIze they are their own worse enemy. They will beat and abuse GM until is dead, and then complain about disappearing manufacturing jobs.

Is that a lot less than just paying and providing benefits they asked for? strategery

nice

Good

cheaper to give them what they wanted huh?..it’s ok to get a bail out that comes out of their pocket anyways, but when they need the finacial help you can’t even try to make them whole? $$holes!

Ya But Alot of That is GM Fault trying to Build all 🔋Fleet ,when ⛽Will Always be 2.50 $ & Fast Food Wages ,Geez👎❗

Tough!

They will still not do workers right, pass the cost to the consumer and the cycle continues. You can fight corporations all day long but inevitably you will be broken by a billion dollar machine

good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They paid $0 in taxes in 2018. They'll be okay.

Good

Maybe mismanaging the company caused a strike and costs the company much more? Where are the Chevy Spark EVs in North America; are they still doing TQM or did they gradually give that up to replace engine parts with plastic components which break. Restore consumer confidence!

Cool that means you could pay them more but ya won't

Boo fuckin hop

Superb

Could of used that for wages and benefits... Oh well 🤷🏽‍♀️

Salute to workers..

good.

The power of unions in action!
