Amid a particular slump in a slump of a season, the Yankee infielder is getting a day off.

The Yankees’ everyday second baseman was out of the lineup for Wednesday’s Subway Series finale at Citi Field, in which Oswaldo Cabrera stepped in at second and DJ LeMahieu started at third.

At a time when the Yankees are without Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo — and need more from players like Torres — Torres went 0-for-4 with a walk while striking out with no one out and the bases loaded in the first inning. Torres’ legs were an issue as well. He did not run out a soft ground ball hit to Francisco Lindor in the eighth inning, easily thrown out on a play that might have been close otherwise. After the game, Torres said his groin — which forced him from a game last week — was feeling tight.
