Girl shot in the stomach inside a Philadelphia home, police say

According to the preliminary investigation, officials say that the girl got ahold of the gun and was handling it when it dischargedPolice in Philadelphia are investigating after a four-year-old girl was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound in her stomach, officials said.

Officers arrived at a home on the 2400 block of 79th Avenue in the East Mount Airy section of the city just after 7 p.m., police said.According to the preliminary investigation, officials say that the girl got ahold of the gun and was handling it when it discharged, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The girl was with her mother visiting family in a second-floor apartment, Small explained. At least three other adults were inside the home when the incident happened.‘That was my angel.'
