San Francisco Giants,Mental Health Awareness Month

Team aims to erase stigmas on same night they host rival Los Angeles Dodgers at Oracle Park

While the players’ “Mustache May” tradition has grown to include a fundraiser for multiple mental-health charities, the organization will host a Mental Health Awareness Night before and during Monday’s 6:45 p.m. game against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.

“It’s really refreshing to see panels like that and embrace that level of conversation,” Karen Kufka, the Kennedy Forum’s chief of staff, told The Examiner in an interview. She said such discussions go a long way toward reducing stigmas and illuminating mental-health issues. “The hope is that the book will illustrate what it is like to suffer with these diseases and ultimately help inform public policy on mental health and addiction,” Kufka said.
