Georgia deputy fired over 'excessive use of force' against Roderick Walker, says sheriff's office

repeatedly hitting Roderick Walker, a Black man who was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over Friday.

"The Deputy who repeatedly struck Roderick Walker is being terminated from the Clayton County Sheriff's Office by order of Sheriff Victor Hill for excessive use of force. This is the administrative action. The criminal investigation of this matter will be turned over the Clayton County District Attorneys Office," reads the Sunday statement.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Walker has a felony probation warrant out of Fulton County for Cruelty to Children, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and a Failure to Appear warrant out of Hapeville which resulted in Magistrate Court denying him a bond," the statement read."Mr. Walker's legal counsel will have to resolve these issues to secure his release."

I’m sure Roderick Walker didn’t break the law, he was a saint, gave back to his community, yet he was involved in a fist fight.

He doesn’t just need to be fired he also needs to be put in prison for assault.

'Fired!' is a good start. But, why? Why do this to another human being? Deputy needs serious psych evaluation and the force needs to undergo some intensive training. Firing is the easiest, cheapest way to get out of a jam. It doesn't solve the problem, just treats the symptoms

If a cop is found to have used excessive force, or killed someone, they should be barred from ever being in a position of trust again. A cop is a profession. Very few of them actually act professional.
