‘Genshin Impact’ Shows Why The PS5 Will Be Tough To Beat

And where consoles are concerned, it’s a PS4 exclusive, available only on PS4, PC and mobile. A Switch version is already confirmed, but the developer has no plans to bring the thing to Xbox.

IGN Japan talked to developer MiHoYo a little bit, talking about plans for next-gen, new content, characters and the like. It certainly sounds like the game is settling in for the long haul, with plans to update the game for PS5 and plenty else coming our way. Even without a specific PS5 version,through backwards compatibility, even if Sony’s messaging on this front has been confusing for a little while.

What’s interesting is that the developer doesn’t specify whether leaving Xbox behind is because of an exclusivity deal or just because of the relative dearth of Xbox Ones in Asia. If its the latter, it goes to show just how important momentum can be when in this industry, especially this time around. Developers release games on PlayStation because that’s where the players are, and players buy PlayStations because that’s where the games are.
