Geneva , N.Y. — The City of Geneva is getting closer to naming a new police chief following the departure of the department's previous leader.
They're all looking to lead 32 full-time police officers in the department, which provides public safety for Geneva's population of more than 12,000 people.Eveland was the first to meet the public, saying he will bring stability, having institutional knowledge of the department. Eveland was followed by Chechak, a military veteran who brings experience at the chief position. He says he's ready to grow professionally.
McCormack also brings experience. He recently retired from NYSP after 37 years in law enforcement, and has lived in Geneva his entire life.
