It's a work style introduced by Gen Z founder and CEO Erifili Gounari, 24, who launched The Z Link in 2020 while she was a college student at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Although millennials have had access to smartphones and the internet for much of their careers, Gen Z is the first generation to grow up with the internet and other technological innovations like AI and social media. Being digital natives has shaped much of the behaviors and preferences of Gen Z CEOs thus far, says Gounari.
Pandiya says Gen Z is less concerned with the narrow confines of"professionalism" than previous generations. Instead, they value transparency at work, particularly in discussions involving mental health. Communicating casually has helped prevent workplace conflicts, Pandiya adds:"We don't have to overthink how things are going to be construed, we all understand that everyone is working toward the same goal and always assume positive intent."
Hemmat wanted to hire more Gen Z talent, and Socha knew the best place to start: including salary ranges in job ads.
