Egypt, Israel, and Hamas have reached a deal to allow some evacuations out of Gaza and into Egypt through the Rafah crossing.Roughly 500 people were expected to evacuate Wednesday, many of them critically wounded civilians or foreign nationals. Americans stuck in Gaza weren't expected to be among the first to evacuate, and i's unclear how long the crossing will remain open. Qatar reportedly helped broker the agreement.

The Rafah border crossing with Egypt in the southern Gaza Strip is expected to open on Wednesday to allow several hundred foreign and dual nationals to leave Gaza. This would be the first such evacuation since the conflict between Hamas and Israel began more than three weeks ago. It is not clear how long the border will stay open.
