America First Legal claimed in the lawsuit the DOJ had a legal obligation to require President Joe Biden’s son to register with the DOJ his involvement with Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings Limited when Hunter Biden joined its board in 2014.
He “therefore was legally obligated to register as such. However, the Department has neither required Mr. Biden to register nor undertaken a waiver rulemaking,” the lawsuit stated. FARA requires, per DOJ, “certain agents of foreign principals who are engaged in political activities or other activities specified under the statute to make periodic public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal, as well as activities, receipts and disbursements in support of those activities."
