actor Jacob Anderson has scored a leading role in AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s Gothic vampire novelAnderson will play Louis, a young man who is seduced into the world of the undead by the amoral vampire Lestat .
It kind of sounds like they're already pretty willing to mangle the source material as they go. If they're having to completely rewrite characters to justify the casting, it's probably not the kind of adaptation I'll enjoy. Not following the books is a deal breaker.
This is definitely giving 'Dark Tower' vibes. When they racebend a character it absolutely makes no sense to racebend that's a sure sign they have no respect for the source material and are going to change a lot of things. Automatically makes me uninterested in the project. 🤷♀️
That's it I'm out .I read the books since I'm 13.I love all the characters. And I was so thrilled for the serie....now I just will pretend they never doing one .just stay true to the books or make a whole new vampire serie.
For everyone asking “so are they gonna change his backstory” the answer appears to be a yes (from a casting sheet blurb in a July rumor post that has so far been completely accurate)
Great actor. As a massive fan of the book, I hope they do this right. I'm open to the changes they've done with Louis, as long as the core of the story and the heart of the character is there. And that includes his immediate family, which informed his personality so much.
Huh? He is not good looking enough to play a vampire! The original movie had the prettiest male actors of the 90’s!
Just know , you’ll never be better then the original…. Str8 FACTS
Game grumps!
Doesn't the character own a plantation?
Should have been Armie Hammer!
Obviously they'll alter Louis's back story. As long as the series is written well, I'm on board!
Odd choice
Look, just make a new vampire show for him. I hate it when they change an existing story to suit their needs. Louis was a plantation owner with slaves. This makes no sense. Create a new story.
Omg congrats, Jacob!!!!
Great actor, but a rather odd choice to play Louis.
As an avid A Rice fan, I can say this is a surprise casting choice, but I’m open to it. I guess they’re going to omit Louis backstory/plantation stuff? They just better not mess up Lestat or the show is DOA for fans.
That's not what Louis looked like. Also, this guy is a terrible actor. This AMC series will be awful.
Are they changing the storyline. Louis was born in France. Then he later ran a plantation with slaves. RaleighRitchie is a great actor. But it will seem odd seeing him as a slave owner, when the actor, himself is part AfroCaribbean. Unless the slavery storyline is removed.
Grey Worm
I'm sure there were dozens of slave plantations owned by black people in 18th century Louisiana.
Wasn’t Louie a plantation owner?
