The final season of GameOfThrones sets Emmys record for most nominations in a single year

. The final season's 32 nominations sets a new record for most nominations for a drama series in its final season, previously held by AMC'sposts its biggest number of nominations yet by far, with 10 different actors receiving nominations. Nominated for the eighth time for his role as Tyrion Lannister, star Peter Dinklage extends his record for most nominations for a single performer in a drama, male or female.

In supporting categories, eight different stars received nominations: Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau , Alfie Allen , Lena Headey , Maisie Williams , Sophie Turner , Gwendoline Christie , as well as Carice van Houten; appearing in only one episode, van Houten received a guest actress nomination for her work as Melisandre. These are the first ever nominations for Allen, Turner, Christie and van Houten.

Creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss received two shared nominations each for their work writing and directing the series finale, "The Iron Throne." It is the only writing nominationreceived. Beyond Benioff and Weiss, however, the final season's two other directors — David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik — both received nominations for their work on "The Last of the Starks" and "The Long Night," respectively.

Actors deserve it yes, those writers though...

The writing was awful, but at least the acting was still good.

I think the actors all deserve the nominations (and probably wins), because they acted their asses off even though they were given shit sandwiches.

Most undeserved shit ever, they drove every character into the dirt and pissed on them

'David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series'

That's just dumb because it wasn't good.

Idk why....

It deserves to be nominated for everything except writing. say what you want with how it ended, but the performances we're top notch, the production design has never been better and the score was breathtaking. That cannot be argued

Meh. The technical ones sure...some of the acting ones sure. The writing one 😂😂😂😂😂😂

The Actors did the best they could and the Music and prop departments did really well but the Writing and Directing definitely don't deserve a nom in My Opinion

it doesnt deserve a single win

Of all the seasons .. ugh .. smh

Proves the emmys blindly votes for juggernauts

Snoodit This is the hottest garbage in entertainment right now. Not all of the noms are bad but THRITY TWO Did they watch this show

To the least deserving season.

And thus proving that the Emmy's are absolute bullshit.

I’ll defend The Long Night, I’ll defend The Bells, but I won’t defend that ending. The greatest show of all time deserved a thoughtful, epic ending. Instead it got a rushed, lazy ending. Simple as that.
