Gabrielle Union Opens Up About Confidence, Feeling ‘Hideous’ in Raw Interview

The actress recently opened up about past traumas, revealing how therapy helped her gain confidence after feeling like she was “exposed as hideous” when turned down for acting roles. The star also opened up about “daddy issues,” in a raw interview.podcast, Krista Smith spoke with Union about the actress’ desire to be validated based on physical appearance.

In therapy, the actress uncovered “daddy issues,” and realized she was projecting “soul wounds” from childhood, Union said in the podcast. She decided to have a vulnerable conversation with her dad about the lack of validation from her parents growing up. “Wow! That’s definitely real. A lot of us are 30+ and just realizing that we are still hurt by things in our childhood,” one fan wrote. Another commented, “It’s hard to give what you didn’t receive.
