Artists have often used crises to present new aspects of themselves to their public

TO RELEASE A surprise album is no longer a surprise: it’s just what superstars do. To be a superstar and to release a surprise album that sounds nothing like your previous work, as Taylor Swift did with “folklore” on July 24th, really is a surprise. Ms Swift took advantage of lockdown to quietly make a record that took a hard turn away from the pure pop of her recent albums, teaming up with Aaron Dessner of The National.

What’s surprising is that more artists have not used the turmoil of these past few months to try to stretch themselves. There have been unusual events—Charli XCX recording an album inspired by lockdown during lockdown; Nick Cave’s sublime solo piano show, which streamed last week—but nothing else quite on the scale of Ms Swift’s reinvention, no matter how temporary it might turn out to be.

Brian Eno, too, turned injury into a new form of music after he was run over by a taxi in London in January 1975. Recovering at home, he put on an album of harp music an old girlfriend had brought round. One channel of his stereo didn’t work, and the amplifier was set at a very low level, with the result that the music was almost inaudible.

If she is so great - why is she insecure to such an extend that they smear at Christians or muslims for celebrating Christmas. We don't have nothing against Jews like her.

Was that record done Swiftly? HAHA... haaa (dry laughter).

I was glad... while the rest of the stuff was melodious and catchy with somewhat of a decent set of lyrics... her true talent came out in the latest surprise album!🙏

Noted that the Beatles exploited the assassination of JFK to distract a desperate nation 3 months later - Freed from commercial obligations, Taylor Swift changes direction. She is the latest musical star who has turned a crisis to their advantage

Who cares

Fiona Apple’s Fetch The Bolt Cutters is way better. Folklore is just Taylor imitating other singers’ like Lana Del Rey, Billie etc. styles. She does write catchy tunes though.

I tried to like it, she has a good voice, the music is fine, sometimes the lyrics are clever. But I just am bored when I listen to it. I saw this acoustic youtube thing she did, I liked that. The CDs R boring.

Happens to some when getting old.. Pop is a bridge

Dear, wanna know more? Please, follow didnotyouknow7 👍😊

A lot of musicians did this during lockdown. Many of them made charity records and such. We are getting bored of hearing about what celebrities did during lockdown. They are getting a little desperate to say the least.

She abandoned her base to please people who don’t listen to her music anyway.

I'm just happy yet another rich person managed to turn the crisis into a personal advantage.

say what you want folkloreOutNow hits hard! i got it on repeat lol

Who tf cares

She’s not as good as this prodigy:

Who cares!?

I loved her new album, it's so calm, relaxing. Taylor always been talented as a singer and songwriter, despite of her silly songs

snore.

So please God let me finish my weird strange book now.
