Incensed by the U.K. refusal to grant adequate licenses to French fishing boats, Paris has said it will block access to nearly all British boats into its waters.

the ships were flagged during overnight checks and one of the two did not comply at first while the other lacked the necessary permits to fish in French waters and therefore was detained.

The detained boat was diverted to the French port of Le Havre where its catch will be confiscated and the boat will be held until a deposit is paid, her statement added.a “zero-tolerance” policy towards the U.K. and block access to nearly all its boats, Clement Beaune, the country’s minister for Europe said.France’s threats were “disappointing” the U.K. was seeking “urgent clarification” about the plans.
