To many, he's now a symbol of oppression; but in reality, Christopher Columbus was a shining symbol for the oppressed. Join actor Joe Piscopo on a daring voyage to re-discover the beauty and significance of the brave explorer.– a Joe Piscopo-helmed Fox Nation special is serving to remind Americans of the reverence the renowned explorer held not long ago.Fox Nation's newest special,
"Uncancelling Columbus," dives into how the fearless explorer became a beacon of light for other immigrants. "For immigrants, he was the first immigrant," Dr. Joseph Scelsa, founder of the Italian American Museum, said."Columbus, he was the first one to open the door. And I understand why they came here. I understand it all too well. So many people were suffering in Europe."
"My wife's grandfather would tell me that he was lucky if he ate meat once a year," he continued."Once a year. So he came to America. But every week on Saturday night, he had a steak. He had died and gone to heaven. As far as he was concerned, he loved this country, and he loved Columbus Day. I remember that distinctly."
Warp his legacy? I think he warped his own legacy. He NEVER discovered America. He discovered the Bahamas. He discovered the Philippine islands. NOT AMERICA
Happy Columbus Day!! A great Italian explorer who beyond was seen and known at his time in history...October should be Italian-American heritage history month!!
If you look at him historically, he was not a good guy by anyone's standards and he stumbled onto the Caribbean by accident. There's no reason to celebrate him. Get over it.
'Warp Christopher Comlumbus' legacy' You mean by telling the truth about history? Like not 'interpreting' it, just literally reporting things he did?
Uncancelling? Legacy? The absolute piece of trash that was Columbus, his family and the people he worked for. They all should be eating excrement in hell
Christopher Columbus committed genocide and wiped out an entire island of people. He even fed them to his dogs. He and his men raped the women AND children. This is historical fact. He should be remembered as a monster, akin to Vlad the Impaler or Jeffrey Dahmer.
Are you saying that he wasn’t a mass murderer? Fox has a problem balancing their shitty opinions and fact…surprising absolutely no one.
Everyone knows the butcher Columbus and his heinous past. It's whether you want to celebrate that butchery that matters to people🤷♂️
The conquest of people and the lands they inhabited is something that was practiced the world over for 1000’s of yrs. The western world, led by the UK, was the 1st to abolish slavery. How about opposing the fact that even today there are aprox 30 mil people living in slavery?
