At least four people were stabbed on New York City’s subway platforms and trains on Saturday, and another person was killed while walking on the tracks, amid a chaotic 24-hour period for the transit system.announced a new subway safety plan
Among the victims was a 20-year-old woman who was punched in the back and then stabbed three times in the abdomen while standing on a platform at the Livonia and Van Siclen Avenue station in Brooklyn just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, police said. Just before 9 p.m., another man was slashed in the arm while riding a southbound 1 train at 116th Street. An NYPD spokesperson said it was unknown if the incidents were related.
Also on Saturday night, a man was fatally struck by a 3 train while reportedly walking on the tracks near 50th Street in Manhattan, according to the MTA. Additional information about the victim was not immediately available.

Used to be like this decades ago in NYC. Looks like old, notorious NYC is coming back. The reason is, of course, there are so many people suffering economically or/and mentally due to the pandemic.

I saw two guys using needles at 3:30 pm in the Port Authority train station’s entrances (different ones) few day ago and no police around. That’s the normal in train stations. So scary that people is not safe in NYC public transportation.

More cops has always led to MORE police brutality, harassment, murders & mass incarceration FACTS . Why continue to use the VERY same cop terror tactics that have failed every time ? NYers need affordable HOUSING & living wage JOBS. NYCMayor when are U going to announce that ?
Solutions ? Cut the NYPD budget and put that money into building REAL affordable housing , (NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE IN A SHELTER) , providing NYC LIVING Wage jobs ($25 +/ a HR) & creating trauma-informed, harm-reduction-based mental health and drug-related social services .
