Mick Mulvaney told reporters yesterday that the Trump administration uses quid pro quo 'all the time with foreign policy.' He later walked back the comments.

President Donald Trump's acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney's admission Thursday that the administration used quid pro quo to temporarily withhold aid to Ukraine was a major flub, according to a former White House press secretary.

Fleischer added that Mulvaney made a"terrible mistake" because he was saying something that was in direct contrast to what the president and his senior administration officials have said regarding the controversial dealings with Ukraine. Mulvaney was asked by reporters during a rare White House press briefing on Thursday to explain why the Trump administration decided to temporarily withhold $400 million in military aid to Ukraine earlier this year. The order to withhold the funds was made days before Trump's July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which Trump asked the foreign leader to do him a"favor" and investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son.

"We do that all the time with foreign policy," Mulvaney said, adding that everyone should"get over it."

It's considered a terrible mistake when someone in this administration tells the truth.

Ya think? 😂🤣😂🤣😂

The Trump administration would consider telling the truth a 'terrible mistake'!

Boy are those horses out of the barn. And galloping away.

Yeah, he accidentally told the truth.

Thanks Trump, another dictator with an axe to grind against the US has been strengthened and emboldened by your bozo behavior. Assad never spoke like that to Obama

Every one can make mistake, Joe Biden & son make terrible mistake on 1.6 billion, no Democrats or communist media say anything about it. How ridiculous? what a big double standard! Left Democrats & media can get away w anything & everything, yet they say no one is above the law.

Yea, he told the truth and that is a terrible thing in the Trump White House

I quite enjoyed Mulvaney making a full confession in front of the entire Nation without having been read his Miranda rights. Now he needs to hire himself an attorney, and see a Proctologist to remove Trump's foot out of his a$$.

By terrible mistake do you mean he actually told the truth? And that would be the first time in almost 3 years the truth was spoken from that podium.

newsweak So!......

Yea, he told the truth lol and he did so cause, just like trump, he arrogantly believes it’s their right to break the law and not have consequences.

But, there is video recording and millions of witnesses all over the world, thanks to cable tv, he he he.

Is it this same SHS.

No he didn't. No aid should be given to a corrupt country especially a country admitting to interfering in our 2016 election in favor of Witch Hillary. These things need to be cleared up before giving aid. The executive office can do that....BIDEN CANNOT. RU really that stupid?

He 'accidentally' told the truth. Lol!!

Not so easy to hire the best, when only greedy idiots apply.

Truly naive...sad

The WH was looking for a scapegoat and mulvaney knew it was him so he laid down a marker.

“Get Over It” They’re all going to prison.

Was it a mistake? Or was it a political hatchet job?

No shit
