NEW: Gov. Tate Reeves, long a staunch public opposer of Medicaid expansion, once acknowledged the benefits of expansion behind closed doors, former UM Chancellor Dan Jones said.

by Adam Ganucheau, Mississippi Today February 2, 2023 Former University of Mississippi Chancellor Dan Jones said that Gov. Tate Reeves told him in a 2015 meeting that he understood how Medicaid expansion would benefit the state but couldn’t agree to champion it for political reasons.

Great reporting. Doesn't surprise though...of course THEY know the benefits...just don't align with the Republican agenda.

Fact that Gov. Reeves called former Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones a liar is shocking. I assumed he would say Jones misremembered or incorrectly heard what he said. But Reeves went straight for 'L' word while using preplexing term of dude to refer to a respected medical doctor.

Helping to spread misinformation? 🤔

So glad that honest, trustworthy people like Dr Jones tell us about these things.
