John Foley stepped down as Peloton CEO in February. Now, he’s cutting a rug—or at least plans to help you custom fit one. His new venture, called Ernesta, will sell direct-to-consumer rugs cut to fit a shopper’s room.

Former Peloton Chief Executive John Foley is trading exercise bikes for something closer to the ground: rugs.

“It’s a little bit of a career shift,” said Mr. Foley, who left Peloton Interactive Inc. earlier this year. But, the entrepreneur added, he has always loved interior design, ripping out pages from design magazines for mood boards before the days of Pinterest .

The Ideas That Inspire UsHarvard Business Review published its first issue 100 years ago with a mission to help leaders put the best management thinking into practice. To mark our centennial, we asked eight current and former CEOs from some of the world’s top companies to describe the ideas that have propelled their own careers and organizations. Stéphane Bancel, the CEO of Moderna, on planning from the future back Anish Shah, CEO of Mahindra, on purpose-driven strategy Roz Brewer, CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, on listening as a leader Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal, on global vision with local execution Joey Wat, CEO of Yum China, on continuous innovation Mo Ibrahim, former CEO of Celtel, on inclusive capitalism Ignacio Galán, CEO and chairman of Iberdrola, on transparent sustainability reporting Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, on performance with purpose As we at HBR look to the future, we recommit to our mission of helping leaders build a better world for customers, employees, partners, and communities. i decided to leave any work to elonmusk That being said active listening is kinda creepy. In my experience when people are active listening it’s not you they are engaged with. It’s about, what was said, and respond purely to that. The other projections inflection ,emotion , body and facial expression are excluded. We know distorted definitions of leadership and confuse it with presiding and sitting in that chair just passing on orders is certainly not 'Leadership'. As they say, seek/listen to understand first and speak to be clearly understood !
