A woman who was skeptical about masks and COVID-19 until she caught it is speaking out to ensure the public takes the pandemic seriously.

The CDC recommends wearing a cloth face covering in public settings amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In the video, which launched over a week ago, Pope tells viewers about her monthlong ordeal where she had to be separated from her 14-year-old son while she battled the virus for over a month. Pope said all the old notions she had against mask wearing and other"I look at my life differently now, because that could have been me, six-feet under," she said.

"I kept thinking about my son," she said."I may not be able to see him graduate high school. I may not see him get married." On July 21, Pope had good news to share: she tested negative for the virus and her son could return home. After posting the update on her page, she said she received a message from Regina Carswell Russo, the executive director of the regional COVID Communications Center.

"African Americans when they see someone who is impacted … it hits home," she told ABC News."We needed real voices."

Of course they will get there influencers to manipulate the masses about this agenda and this virus BS!!

she would have still got it. its a fucking microbe. cloth mask ain't doing shit but making people feel safer. its like the old get under ur desk for a nuke drill.

Too late eh?

Suck it up. Masks are unnecessary. She would probably hot it anyway. Masks do not prevent it.

People who need a personal experience with this illness (or any other travesty) to care about the wellbeing of everyone are the worst sort of person. You shouldn’t need to understand suffering directly to have empathy for others who are suffering. Gross.

Ugly.

There is no study that shows masks work. This is complete nonsense.

It takes a lot of strength to go from denier, acquiring covid and talking about it, and then sending a message of what to do instead. It wasn’t ideal that she didn’t believe at first but a lot people are like her too. She’s here to say learn from my mistakes & that takes courage.

Reported for promoting liberal propaganda

This girl has never had the man flu... catch that, then tell me how bad covid really is 😂

This post makes no sense. Was she a skeptic because she didn't believe there was a virus or because she felt masks weren't effective? Is she campaigning now that there's a virus or for people to wear masks? does not wearing a mask automatically mean getting the virus?

'I was doubting it. Everyone who was dying ... how did we know it was COVID-19?'

Thanks for changing your mind only after it directly affected you. Super helpful.

Think maybe she had other underlying health conditions? Doesn't look to be the healthiest person. Anyone who has breathing problems, obese, elderly, etc are more likely to have a hard time with this virus. The rest of us (98.5% of population) will have little to no symptoms.

Good...

Had COVID19. The flu symptoms are much worse.

She refused to listened to doctors, scientists, and people who got COVID-19, and now she wants stupid people like herself to listen to HER?

Being big and not healthy is not ....well healthy...

Look at recent case spikes in Japan and Philippines - it’s obvious masks are not effective

Yes let’s base the policies for a country with 330 million on the experience of one person, who got the illness and.....survived. Fucking lunacy.

This is a blatant pr piece.

Just because she caught it does not mean underwear face masks work!
