Jury selection has begun for a former Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office deputy who is charged with second-degree murder, official misconduct, and reckless endangerment in the death of Christian Glass. The incident occurred in June 2022 when the deputy shot and killed Glass after he got his car stuck on a boulder in Silver Plume. The deputy appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis, and after engaging with him for over an hour, he broke Glass' car window, shot him with bean bag rounds, used a Taser, and ultimately shot him five times in the chest. The deputy's supervisor, who was not present at the scene, has also been indicted.

Jury selection began Monday for a former Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office deputy charged in the death of 22-year-old Christian Glass.

The 5th Judicial District Attorney's Office offered plea deals to both former Clear Creek County deputies in September 2023.to duty to report use of force by peace officers - duty to intervene.
