Is this a soundtrack for exploding cars and sharks with lasers on their heads? Hell no. It’s a soundtrack befitting a Bond for our times, played by a worn-out Daniel Craig facing down his fifth and final outing as 007. Bond always gets the girl, but it never ends well. As such, Eilish’s acceptance of a lonely life is really kind of fitting.
The characteristic Bond strings come in on the chorus, as Eilish sings, “I’ve fallen for a lie/You were never on my side/Fool me once/Fool me twice/Are you death or paradise?/Now you’ll never see me cry/There’s just no time to die.” It almost sounds as if Eilish is writing the theme for a wholly revamped version of Bond, one in which co-writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge was allowed to run wild with the script, replacing Craig with Sandra Oh and all the various Bond girls with Jodie Comer.Find a playlist of all of our recent Songs You Need to Know selections

Does it suck? No. Is it a fresh take on a Bond song? No. It’s a paint by numbers formula of a typical Bond song. Carly Simons ‘Nobody does it better’ is still the gold standard in my opinion.

Typical Bond song, yet sleepy.
Its pathetically mediocre... Once the film comes out the track will be forgotten within 6 months. I don’t mind her but this was a poor effort as far as any pop artist goes.

Bond is not WOKE despite how much you wish he was. 007 is about having fun at the movies, which this song does not get. It’s as if whiny millennials don’t know how to have a good time. Let’s hope there is lots of gratuitous sex + violence + sharks w/lasers on their head in NTTD.

That song is just 4 minutes of unintelligible whisper, any ASMR youtuber would have done better job (and for much less money)
