Ford Blue workers are on the chopping block.

Ford is eyeing major cuts to its workforce in the midst of a shift to electric vehicles. According to a, the Blue Oval is gearing up to lay off 8,000 salaried workers — about a quarter of its workforce in the US — as it aims to reduce $3 billion in operational costs by 2026.

T.R. Reid, director of corporate and public policy communications at Ford, declined to discuss what he called “speculation by others about our business.”

Where is your disclaimer that Ford is paying you ad dollars?

A shame Ford couldn’t build staff loyalty by passing on the financial pain to shareholders in the short term, with a promise of longer term gain.

why not transition? why slash? are they union employees?

Smells funky. Usually expansion means expanding. Getting bigger. Not contracting. Getting smaller. Does electric car production require fewer workers? Uh, that would mean they should be cheaper. Funky smell.
