.MaddowBlog: For the third time this year, GOP rejects election-security bill.

Over the summer, a pair of senators – one Democrat and one Republican – partnered on a new election-security proposal called the Defending Elections from Threats by Establishing Redlines . The idea behind Sens. Chris Van Hollen’s and Marco Rubio’s bill was pretty straightforward: if U.S. intelligence agencies were to determine that Russia interfered in another federal election, new sanctions would kick in targeting Russia’s finance, defense and energy sectors.

A Republican senator is blocking bipartisan legislation meant to counter foreign election interference, saying it is more anti-Trump than anti-Russia. “The mechanisms in this bill have been designed more to attack the Trump administration and Republicans than to attack the Russians and those who would attack our country and our elections,” the Idaho Republican argued.

As regular readers may recall, the Democratic-led House passed the “Securing America’s Federal Elections Act” , which would, among other things, require voting systems to use backup paper ballots, mandate tech safeguards, and provide resources to states to improve their election-security measures.

MaddowBlog Think you have heard of quid pro quo. Add voter ID and it will pass in a heartbeat. Of course, that would cause the loss of millions of illegal votes, who historically vote Democrat because they are looking for handouts.

MaddowBlog A Democrat lies under oath for the 100th time.

MaddowBlog You do know that none of the media outlets open the window to these bills to show them fully. They only write about what furthers their side's agenda. Go read these bills fully.

MaddowBlog What more do you have to know about them. They need to cheat to win.

MaddowBlog

MaddowBlog Can we sue them? Seems like the courts are our only option.

MaddowBlog Let’s just have everyone show ID to vote.

MaddowBlog Who's against voter ID? Who wants 16 year olds to vote, who wants to get rid of the electoral college? Who wants illegals to vote? I sure hope nobody believes WAPO!

Houston police chief's furious shaming of the GOP over gunsAfter an officer was killed on a domestic violence call, police chief delivered a ferocious on-camera rebuke of Sens. McConnell, Cruz and Cornyn over failure to close the 'boyfriend loophole' in the Violence Against Women Act. The message, writes Jill Filipovic: The GOP cares about the NRA than cops, women and children. JillFilipovic Opinion About time that the lack of parenting, the refusal to accept personal responsibility for one's own actions and the senseless hatred of law enforcement be included. Bad guys do not obey the laws, not old laws and not new laws. JillFilipovic Opinion This repub congress and trump wants what’s up to be down and what’s down to be up. No sense. JillFilipovic Opinion I blame the Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo for the death of his officer, there are already laws on the books for everything he mentioned, why isn't he enforcing them.
