For QB Sam Howell, playing in Seattle was always on his mind

You may read that headline and wonder: how does a quarterback who was born and raised in North Carolina, played his college football for the Tar Heels and was drafted by the Commanders dream about playing in the Pacific Northwest?despite never having visited the Emerald City before the Commanders lost to the Seahawks last fall, the Hawks were always on his mind.

"I just love the team, love the organization. I know a lot of guys on the team and I think this is a good football team. There's a lot of really good players, a lot of really good pieces here, so we just got to try to keep building it every single day."Of course, Howell was a starter for the Commanders in 2023 and will transition to a reserve role. It's still an important one.

“Geno is great. Geno’s the man and obviously I've always been a fan of his, just being on the other side, watching him, the way he goes about his business, he's a true professional, and just the way he practices each and every day, just how committed he is to his craft and how committed he is to this team and just how much he puts into it. Those are things that you really don't know until you work right beside somebody.
