Florida governor appeals ruling on masks in schools

DeSantis, a Republican, said at a news conference earlier this week that he is confident the state will win on appeal by linking the mask mandate order to the Parents Bill of Rights law. That law, the governor said, reserves for parents the authority to oversee their children’s education and health.

So far, they have moved to withhold salaries for school board members in Alachua and Broward counties. Those are two of the 13 school boards representing over half of Florida’s 2.8 million students that have voted for mask mandates in defiance of the governor’s order.

But they can….stay home and homeschool them!

My grandson who is in 1st grade cannot consistently wear a mask because of his autism so we are grateful that his school system is requiring masks except for medical reasons. We are very grateful that others want to protect him.

It’s “important” to his political career, public safety be damned.

Do I understand correctly? Gov opposes mask mandates in public school. Gives vouchers to parents to opt out of public school and attend private school where there are mask mandates.

DeSantis, just like his hero, Trump, cannot admit a policy he proposed or something he previously said was ever wrong. If he did, he would lose his entire base and he knows it.

The fact that there are so many sick kids speaks to the capability of the parents to choose.
