San Antonio and the Interstate 35 corridor north of the city will be under a flood watch, starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday and lasting through 7 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service said. Many Texas counties north and east of San Antonio are also under the flood watch. The areas include the Hill Country towns of Fredericksburg , Kerrville and Boerne , as well as the urban centers along the I-35 corridor, from New Braunfels to Austin .
The weather service said these storms could produce “isolated amounts in excess of 5 inches,” “Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the weather service said. It’s important to note that most of the flood watch area will not see rainfall totals that high, but for the regions that do experience multiple inches of rain, isolated flash flooding would be expected.
