The week will begin with widespread showers and storms in the South, where some localized flash flooding is possible. Forecast:

This low will fuel thunderstorms with flooding rain through at least Tuesday.

Sunday, isolated flash flooding was reported in parts of Oklahoma and Mississippi. Vehicles were stranded near Whitesboro, in southeast Oklahoma. Flood watches have been issued by the National Weather Service from northeast Texas into northwest Louisiana and much of Arkansas, where the concern for additional flooding is highest over the next day or two.

Many of these areas should pick up at least another inch of rain, with localized totals over 3 inches where bands of rain stall out for a few hours, or repeated rounds of rain occur over the next few days.Never try to drive your vehicle through a road that's covered by any depth of water in a flash flood. It's always best to turn around and find another route or delay your trip, even if it disrupts important plans.
