JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas — A 4-year-old died in a flash flood that ripped through rural Burleson on Sunday.dispatchers they saw a family of three in a car that was stuck in high water on County Road 528. The trio got out of the vehicle to walk to dry ground when floodwater swept all three away, the caller said.
Authorities found the mother and father around 5 a.m., according to the Johnson County Office of Emergency Management. Law enforcement found the 4-year-old in the water at 7:20 a.m., they said. Officials took his mother and father to the hospital. They were released Sunday. The boy, later identified as Lucas Warren, would've turned 5-years-old this month, according to a medical examiner's report. At least one Johnson County first responder became stuck in high water on the way to the scene. The official posted aPeople who live near County Road 528 experienced some minor flood damage Sunday. Neighbors described a flash flood that overtopped a 4-foot fence in about 30 minutes.
The Fort Worth Fire Department responded to 100 weather-related accidents Sunday, a spokesperson said. Dallas Police received 17 calls for high water, they reported. that may help the county secure resources for recovery and mitigation.
