Both uncle and nephew were new to powerline fishing. It was Jake’s neighbor who’d put Brian onto it, inviting him out for his first time three weeks before. The next weekend, Brian rigged together some gear and crossed his fingers. He caught eight salmon then, three over the state limit of five per day, releasing back what he couldn’t keep. The rest went to a friend who owned a restaurant. “On the record, he doesn’t serve it to customers, and I can attest to that,” Brian told us.
