The announcement, made at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital Monday morning, highlighted the critical need for enhanced adolescent mental health services in Utah. The $96 million project aims to decrease youth suicides, the leading cause of death for Utah adolescents. Over the past decade, the number of Utah children suffering from poor mental health has reported more than doubled.
The center is slated to open in late 2025 and will replace the existing Intermountain Primary Children's Wasatch Canyons Behavioral Health Campus in Taylorsville. The facility is said to be the first in Utah to provide certain adolescent mental health services, including a walk-in crisis center and a space dedicated to crisis care for youth with autism and neuro-diverse needs.
