Finland remains world's happiest country on International Day of Happiness

According to the report, which used data from Gallup, the top 10 happiest countries are: Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Israel, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg and New Zealand.The report uses several factors to evaluate each country, including physical and mental health, lack of corruption and effective government, among others.

"The ultimate goal of politics and ethics should be human well-being," said one of the report's authors, Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University. Another author of the report, professor John Helliwell of the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia, said that the average level of happiness around the world has been remarkably stable during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Even during these difficult years, positive emotions have remained twice as prevalent as negative ones, and feelings of positive social support twice as strong as those of loneliness," Helliwell said.

How can Israel be in this Top 10 ? Constant border tensions, suppressing Palestinians, violence, corrupt prime minister? Just curious.

I thought Denmark was the happiest.

But they won't be after they join NATO, Neutrality kept them safe.

Gin and Karhu beer?

But don't they get a hell of a lot of snow?

So maybe “diversity” isn’t a “strength” after all?

And yet...

On what/which model of measuring mood? Oh just the usual polls? That 'experts' ruined the credibility

How happy are Americans? Not as happy as FinnsThe World Happiness Report was released on Monday, indicating that Finland is the happiest nation in the world out of 137 measured. How did the U.S. fare? Let's just say it didn't even land in the Top 10. Maybe it’s because we don’t like getting bankrupt when we get a major illness. Or, the fact that our hard earned tax dollars go to buying more stealth planes while our roads and bridges crumble. Or that our rights are being taken away from us by white Christian nationalists. Or maybe it’s because our children are getting gunned down in school and our elected leaders won’t do anything about it.
