Connecticut head coach Dan Hurley speaks during a news conference in preparation for the Final Four college basketball game in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Houston. Miami will face UConn on Saturday. When UConn lost to New Mexico State in the NCAA Tournament in 2022, coach Dan Hurley knew he had to do something different.

Senior guard Nahiem Alleyne said it was the game against the Gonzaga that he first realized UConn's depth was wearing other teams down. He recalls looking up at the clock with eight minutes left and they were up by 25 points. The Huskies have won all four of their games by at least 15 points. Their closest game was the 70-55 win over Saint Mary’s in the second round. They regained their ways after a players-only meeting in January where all the players got a chance to air out their grievances.“At this point in the season, we’re starting to play our best basketball, which is what everybody aims to do,” UConn reserve guard Joey Calcaterra said.

Along with beating another higher seed, No. 4 Indiana, the Hurricanes knocked out two Texas schools. That denied the state of Texas from having a local representative at this year’s Final Four at NRG Stadium.— Joseph DuarteJordan Miller, a fifth-year senior guard, did not miss a shot attempt in Miami's Elite Eight win over Texas.
