Applicants now have until Aug. 15 to apply for disaster assistance related to the May storms that swept through North Texas.DALLAS — Renters and homeowners in several Texas counties have until Aug. 15 to apply for FEMA assistance, the agency said in a press release. will have more time to apply for FEMA's individual assistance program, the release states. However, the sooner they apply the sooner they may receive assistance.
The extension applies to homeowners and renters in Austin, Bell, Calhoun, Collin, Cooke, Coryell, Dallas, Denton, Eastland, Ellis, Falls, Guadalupe, Hardin, Harris, Henderson, Hockley, Jasper, Jones, Kaufman, Lamar, Leon, Liberty, Montague, Montgomery, Navarro, Newton, Polk, San Jacinto, Smith, Terrell, Trinity, Tyler, Van Zandt, Walker and Waller counties, the release states.
Uninsured residents in those locations who sustained losses from flooding that occurred April 26 through June 5 are eligible for assistance. Eligible expenses could include temporary housing, emergency home repairs, legal services, unemployment assistance, medical, dental, and funeral expenses. Uninsured and underinsured residents are also eligible to receive assistance for personal property losses.
